I love working with therapists who are curious about how their own systems interact with their clients. What do our feelings and reactions say about the work? And how do the wider systems we inhabit impact our clients, and us as therapists?
I’m passionate about supporting IFS therapists and helping them use the model more skilfully.
My first experience of supervision was as a Buddhist monk when my pastoral work was supervised by trained therapeutic supervisors. (I lived in a Buddhist community that also trained therapists.) In my training as a monk and minister I learnt how to supervise and train others in the same way in their pastoral and community work.
As well as the training I received from my Buddhist community, I have also completed training in Integrating IFS with Supervision and Consultation, with Liz Martins, an IFS Lead Trainer. I have been supervising therapists since 2018.
I loved learning about parallel-process and how what’s in the shadow of the therapist or minister can affect the work. I saw over and over again how supporting the therapist to un-blend from their own reactions transformed the client work.
As an IFS supervisor I can answer questions about the IFS model and support you to work more skilfully with the model.
I work with IFS therapists, and with integrative therapists, particular those interested in using parts work with the clients.
As well as my IFS experience my work as a supervisor is supported by all of my lived experience, but particularly my experience as a Buddhist minister, and my training in embodied therapy and wild therapy.
I offer a space that is both non-judgemental and discerning. I have my supervisees and their clients best interests at heart. I cultivate a warm relationship with supervisees, and we enjoy our work together.
Supervision is required by the professional bodies for counsellors and psychotherapists, and is valuable for anyone working with clients in a therapeutic settings.
